I submitted a riveting piece titled…
Reducing Waste at Parties
While planning my son’s 7th birthday party, I realized Longmont Dairy products could help me host a great party without generating a bunch of trash. I added a one-time delivery of lemonade, raspberry-lemonade, orange juice, strawberry milk, chocolate milk, iced tea and vanilla latte cold brew to my standing weekly order, and it was dropped off in an extra cooler a few days before the party. I set up a drink station along with a collection of mason jars for cups and a cooler of ice. The guests were thrilled with the selection and the drink station turned out to be a fun activity. We used a paint pen to write names on the cups and the children proudly told me how to spell their name and which drink they would like. It gave me an opportunity to interact in a fun way with each child, which can be a rare treat at a kid’s birthday party!
After the party, we rounded up the cups and loaded them in the dishwasher. The glass jars were picked up by Longmont Dairy at the next delivery, the caps turned into the school as a fundraiser, and the only pieces thrown away were the little plastic collars from the caps.
If you are planning a party this summer, I encourage you to try the beverage station with Longmont Dairy beverages and reusable cups. With a little forethought, it’s an easy way to please guests and reduce waste.
